Learn About Bubbleponics And How To Build Your Own Hydroponics System

Bubbleponics is a registered trademark of a hydroponics manufacturer and a popular form of indoor gardening with hydroponics. The Bubbleponics company produces a $400 hydroponics system consisting of a Rubbermaid type container, water pump, air pump, air stone, and water to produce fast, lush growth of your favorite plants.

This simple system is just too easy to put together yourself. I call it The Bubble-Bucket Hydroponics System and have FREE PLANS which include a FREE VIDEO on how to put this system together, available by clicking on the above link. Growing your favorite plants using bubbleponics or The Bubble-Bucket Hydroponics System method is one of the simplest hydroponic systems to setup and maintain. Yet this system is known for rapid growth, consistently huge yields, and a quicker harvest than other hydroponic methods. This type of hydroponic systems origins can be traced back to the early internet forums of the late 1990s. Indoor gardeners are always on the lookout for new and innovative ways to build the ultimate setup. Advantages of Using The Bubble-Bucket Method - Simple, easy setup in under 1 hour
- This system is compact, can be place just about anywhere and doesn’t need much space to maintain
- Very fast growth patterns
- High yielding compared to other methods
- Best suited for less expensive lighting systems
Disadvantages of Using The Bubble-Bucket Method - Growing more than a few plants can be a challenge to setup and maintain
- Since your plants roots are growing directly in water, root rot and other issues can ruin an otherwise healthy crop
- If your pumps quit working your plants will begin to wilt & die within 48 hours because of the lack of oxygen to the root zone.
- Water temperature must be maintained under 75 degrees therefore using HID lighting isn’t possible unless you have enough venting and/or air conditioning to maintain the correct air & water temperature.
How Does It Work? The Bubble-Bucket Hydroponics System will start with a bucket or similar Rubbermaid™ type container with a lid. The lid has holes drilled in it that hold 3 inch diameter net cups (or Styrofoam coffee cups) that contain a
Rockwool rooting cube,
Hydroton
and a growing seedling.

The cups are set into the lid, & the lid is set on the container where your air stone is sitting in the nutrient-water solution in the bottom of the container. The air pump causes the air stone to create bubbles that oxygenate the nutrient solution. This is where the Bubbleponics system gets its name. The water level is set to stay a couple inches below the bottom of the cups. The live, growing seedlings roots will stay wet with water than has been highly oxygenated by dripping from the cups back into the reservoir and also oxygenated in the bottom of the reservoir with the air pump that is sitting on the outside of the container. This supercharged oxygenated water in this bubbleponics type of system is what helps your plants grow upwards of 2-3 inches a day. This rapid growth means your plants grow faster, healthier, and produce more abundant fruiting sites than with a regular soil garden. This is what makes hydroponics so interesting and makes each hydroponic project a great research tool. There are commercially available systems that do essentially the same thing but cost upwards of $400. This system is just too simple to put together to waste too much money on a better looking system. I find with hydroponics that just because you spend more money on a ready made system, that you don’t necessarily get a better yield. Most of these systems can be duplicated at home. However, the ease of use factor and the durability of commercial hydroponic systems make them a good value for some growers, especially commercial growers. But for the home hobbyist, building your own system is usually a wiser use of your indoor gardening dollar. However if your short on time or don’t want the hassle of building your own setup, ready made systems will get you gardening right out of the box.
